2 Boot Burrington Breather (20s & 30s Walk)

Event Date: Sat 22 December 2018
Event Time: 09:15

This walk is in the past.

Fleeing all thoughts of last-minute Christmas shopping, we'll climb up on to Black Down to reach Beacon Batch - the highest point of the Mendip Hills. From there we pass through nature reserves and ascend to the northern cliffs of Cheddar Gorge, before making our way back to Burrington Combe via Burrington Ham and a steep descent. Expect mud in many places (bring gaiters if you have them) and please layers, given the time of year.

Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.

Group: 20s & 30s
Walk Leader: Olly P.

Walk Grade: 2 Boot
Walk Length: 10 miles (5 hours)

Date: Sat 22 Dec 2018
Meet: 09:15 at The Watertower (Clifton)

Alternative meeting point: 09:45 at BS40 7AU: Goatchurch Cavern parking area at Burrington Combe - other side of the cattle grid from the Burrington Inn

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with over 400 members and is part of The Ramblers charity. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
