2 Boot Bridgwater Bay and Steart Marsh (20s & 30s Walk)

Event Date: Sat 23 February 2019
Event Time: 09:00

We start at Bridgwater Bay heading towards Stert Point. The walk will then join the River Parrett Trail along Steart Marsh, one of the UK's largest new wetland reserve, towards Combwich. We then head inland back towards Bridgwater Bay where we complete the last stretch of the walk on the England Coast Path. Steart Marsh is WWT's first big Working Wetland and is home to a vast array of wildlife. There will be an opportunity to stop at one of the hides and at this time of the year keep a look out for teals, widgeons, peregrines, golden plovers and meadow pipits.

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with over 400 members and is part of The Ramblers charity. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
