9:00am / 2 Boot, 11 miles / Broadway, Worcestershire (Joint walk)

Event Date: Sun 17 July 2016
Event Time: 9:00am

This is an 11 mile walk 2 boot, and there are a couple of steep climbs. Broadway is almost synonymous with the Cotswolds and yet, with its wide main street ploughing busily up the lower slopes of the escarpment, it is hardly a typical Cotswold Village. The Cotswolds is an area renowned for its attractive and historic villages scattered across undulating hills. We start at Broadway and head for the prominent landmark of Broadway Tower, a Gothic Folly on one of the highest points in the Cotswolds, where you will get extensive views. The route then takes us past the Snowshill lavender fields. We then head for Stanton which has been called the perfect Cotswold village. Once back we can have a cream tea or a well earned drink in one of Broadway’s finest hostelries.
This is a joint walk led by Brunel Plus.
Bring packed lunch.

Meet: 9:00am at Aldi/Pizza Hut, Bradley Stoke. Alternatively meet at 10:15am in the public car park in Broadway, on the Leamington Road (B4632). The car park is set back from the road and behind an arch. Please note that this is NOT the main Broadway coach and car park which is at the other end of the High Street. This is a pay and display car park so please bring some change.
Drive up the High Street and look out for the Horse and Hounds pub on the left. The Leamington Road (B4632) is left after this at a mini roundabout. The car park turning is then about 100m on the right. The Horse and Hounds pub has the following postcode WR12 7DT

How do I join the walk?

Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.

On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.

If sharing lifts passengers are expected to contribute towards petrol costs. Please bring coins or be prepared to make a bank transfer. As a guide, 30p/mile shared by everyone in the car.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
