1 Boot – Dyrham Walk (5 miles) followed by Optional Roof Top Tour of Dyrham House. New members welcome! – Brunel Plus Walk

Event Date: Sun 27 September 2015

New members welcome!

Enjoy superb Cotswold scenery on Jeff’s new Dyrham and Hinton route, which stays outside the chargeable areas of Dyrham Park, and so avoids any need to pay NT (National Trust) admission charges.

The walk involves climbing two small hills. Walking boots and long trousers advisable. Bring packed lunch. No dogs permitted

After the walk, if you are a NT member, (and bring your NT membership card), or are willing to pay NT admission charges, you are very welcome to join Jeff for a Roof Top Tour of Dyrham House. You can climb the stairs, or take the lift, to the covered roof top walkway, which gives close up views of how highly-skilled lead workers, and stonemasons, are progressing on replacing the roofs, and repairing roof top stonework. Then, we can get refreshments in the Team Room, or the Tea Garden.

Meet: 10:10 am at Aldi/Pizza Hut Car Park, Bradley Stoke. Alternatively meet at 11:00 am outside Visitor Reception at Dyrham Park National Trust car park, SN14 8ER. Park for free in Dyrham Park National Trust car park.
Leader: Jeff R (Phone number removed)

How do I join the walk?

Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.

On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.

If sharing lifts passengers are expected to contribute towards petrol costs. Please bring coins or be prepared to make a bank transfer. As a guide, 30p/mile shared by everyone in the car.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
