This walk is in the past.
We begin our hike in Keynsham following the River Avon trail before working our way uphill with rewarding views in all directions. On reaching the monument at Landsdown, we will make our way back past woodland, descending through fields, joining the Monarch's Way to return to our starting point. Easily accessible by trains from the main stations in Bristol and on a bus route; parking is also available near to the starting point in pay and display car parks. Bring a packed lunch.
This walk is being advertised as part of the Bristol Walkfest programme.
TRAIN STRIKES 13th MAY
This walk starts at Keynsham railway station - the idea was that people would use the train to get there, however, bad timing, there are going to be rail strikes that day. There are some other public transport options though. From the centre of Bristol, you can get the 522 from Bristol Bridge (R9 stop), Victoria Street, Redcliffe to the High Street (post office) in Keynsham dpt 08:58am - arr 09:19am or dpt 09:26am arr 09:50am takes about 25 mins. OR there's the 349 that leaves from the same stop dpt 08:41 - arr 08:59 or dpt 09:10 arr 09:31 so only about 20 minutes. I advise you check these times for yourself though on the journey planner of the First Bus website.
Or there's the number 17 from Southmead to Keynsham via Fishponds, Kingswood and Hanham. From Kingswood there's one dpt 09:10 - arr 09:31am.
Also the 39 bus runs very regularly from Bristol to Bath via Keynsham, it stops about 2 mins walk from Keynsham railway station. There must be buses in the opposite direction from Bath too!
Alternatively, if anyone based in the city centre would like to be the car share meet/greet, organiser then please get in touch as there is currently no city centre meeting point (Could also do car shares from the North Bristol area and Kingswood area).
Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.
