10:00 2 Boot East Brecons loop (Joint Walk)

Event Date: Sun 6 June 2021
Event Time: 10:00

This walk is in the past.

This walk starts in the valley near Talybont (you can see the road, railway, canal and river all cross each other there), we proceed along the canal to Pencelli, then ascend up past Pen y Bryn (the only major ascent in the walk, about 550m over several miles) and follow the Beacons Way in a south west direction along the ridge (great views), then descend quite steeply (via some waterfalls) to the track that leads along the Talybont Reservoir. The last 5 miles are all easy gentle downhill. As per the instructions below, please text me to confirm if you are coming and I'll communicate the exact start point the day before (this is to avoid un announced people turning up as I have to know who is attending and control the number of attendees). Although the weather looks pretty good, do bring some warm layers just in case as we will be in the mountains. Remember suncream, sun hat, plenty of drink and food and some decent footwear.

Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.

How do I join the walk?

Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.

On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
