10:00 1 Boot Chepstow Tunnel Walk (Joint Walk) This walk is now closed
Event Date: Sun 22 August 2021
Event Time: 10:00
This walk is in the past.
A few years ago, someone put on a walk for Brunel that went through an abandoned railway tunnel; it was a bit like going into a cave - or the mines of Moria. That tunnel has now been turned into a footpath / cycleway as part of the Wye Valley Greenway, so I can now lead a version of it for the group.
This will be a circular walk starting and ending in Chepstow, with a section along Offa's Dyke. The tunnel is about a kilometre in length, you will not need to bring a torch, but the temperature could be lower inside than out, so you might want to bring an extra layer.
There is one section of path that might be a bit overgrown, if I can't find a different way around it.
If you want to come, send a text to the walk leader by 6pm on Saturday 21st. After that time, I will send out a text with details of the meeting point.
Bring packed lunch.

If sharing lifts passengers are expected to contribute towards petrol costs. Please bring coins or be prepared to make a bank transfer.
As a guide, 30p/mile shared by everyone in the car.
Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.
On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?
We provide a full recommended kit list here. Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.
