This walk is in the past.
A walk in the Mendip hills from Hinton Blewett along quiet (mostly) roads, tracks, through fields and woodland.
We'll get a good view over Chew Valley lake and pass the Victorian aqueduct by East Harptree. On the pre-walk I also saw plenty of bunnies, a few storks, a sketchy-looking rope swing and there are still some juicy-looking blackberries along the route.
Looks like it'll be a breezy, cool and cloudy day with a chance of showers, so bring waterproofs, something to keep your bum dry when we sit down for lunch and some warm layers.
There will be muddy, slippery and wet sections (stream crossings), particularly by the aqueduct where there are also fallen trees to clamber under or over - waterproof footwear is advised! Best to wear walking boots for ankle support as there'll be some uneven ground too.
There are stiles and livestock on the route and we'll need to take care of vehicles along some tracks and a short section of busier road we'll be walking on. On the pre-walk two of the fields had curious young bullocks in them who got a bit excited and ran around as I was walking through - keep calm and plod on through and all should be fine!
Bring a packed lunch. We can visit the Ring 'O' Bells for a drink at the end of the walk.
There's a small book-swap box near the end of the walk (in Hinton Blewett) if anyone would like to do some book-swapping.
Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.
