This walk is in the past.
This walk is now cancelled
A walk out to perhaps one of the lesser-visited trig points on Mendip, at Westbury Beacon. It's also home to Bronze Age burial mounds and more.
We'll pass through Priddy and follow the West Mendip Way in the direction of Draycott. Part of our return to the start will follow the MacMillan Way.
There will be short sections of following quieter roads on this walk. Please keep to one side and be aware of approaching traffic. Some paths could be muddy so bring gaiters if you have them. Please also check on the forecast beforehand - this is a rather exposed walk about the Mendip Plateau so, waterproofs and warm layers may be required.
There's no pub within walking distance of the car park but I'm happy for us to drive somewhere that's convenient for the majority heading back to Bristol.
PLEASE NOTE - I will not be at the meeting point in Bristol. If you are driving from or through Bristol, please stop at the Water Tower to ensure lifts are available for all who need.
This walk starts in a free car park where "dog walkers" like to park erratically with little consideration for other visitors. Therefore, I'd like us to maximise car sharing and bring as few cars as possible. Thank you.
Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.
