This walk is in the past.
This walk is now cancelled due to the yellow weather warning
A circular walk starting in Burrington Combe, from which we head out to Dolebury Warren (the site of an Iron Age hillfort) before heading up through the woods in reach of Beacon Batch - the highest point of the Mendip Hills.
After lunch, we'll complete our circuit, following a mixture of paths and having to cross or follow the occasional road. There may also be cattle (docile) on this walk.
Expect mud in places (gaiters if you have them), over 500m of ascent, pack for February weather and bring food and drink with you.
PLEASE NOTE - I will meet you at the start of the walk but will not be at the Water Tower. If you're driving from or through Bristol, please consider going to the meeting point to ensure others have the opportunity for a lift. Thank you.
I haven't decided upon a particular pub but will be happy to go along with what best suits people/the herd travelling back to Bristol. There's nothing within walking distance of the car park but options along the A38.
Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.
