08:30am 3 Boot: Silbury Hill, Pewsey Downs & the Kennett and Avon Canal (Joint Walk)

Starting from Silbury hill we will pause for a visit to West Kennett Longbarrow, before heading south past fields of wheat and wild flowers, over the Wandsdyke, to Alton Barnes, on the way seeing the Alton Barnes white horse. We will walk along a section of the Kennett and Avon canal before heading back North.

Bring a packed lunch. Pub to finish.

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.
