After crossing the River Barle along the infamous clapper bridge, we'll follow the Exe Valley Way in the direction of Withypool Common. From our first trig point, we'll cross Withypool Hill before returning to the Barle. PLEASE NOTE: this river crossing will involve removing boots, socks and going barefoot as the stepping stones are too dangerous (and the alternative is to follow a boring road).
A final climb up to our second trig of the day follows on from lunch; then returning to the riverside and taking the Two Moors Way back to the cars.
With 800m of ascent, I'm grading this as a 3 Boot more than your average 2 Boot, with uneven terrain in places and exposure to the elements all day. Please pack accordingly. You may also wish to consider a small towel or change of socks to follow the river crossing.
Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.
