This walk is in the past.
I have shortened this as the weather in the morning is forecast to be clear on the summits, but deteriorating in the pm, we'll also do it in the reverse direction to the original plan so as to reach Black Mountain summit in the morning. The walk starts from by the Tafarn y Garreg pub nr Glyntawe in the west Brecons and heads up onto the ridgeline that leads to Black Mountain (802m) where we should have great views & the views from the ridgeline are also very good. From there we descend past the lake of Lyn Fan Fawr and then have a fairly easy descent down a country lane to the finish at the pub. I've called the pub to check they'll be open. I expect we'll be finished by 3pm.
Please bring very warm clothes, waterproofs, hats, gloves, good footwear, sunglasses, picnic, drink and something to sit on when we have snacks / lunch. The forecast temperature at Black Mountain summit at midday is -2degC, though the 'feels like temperature' (with windchill) is -11degC. The freezing level will be about 300m. We will have hot drinks at the pub at the end. Total ascent is 650m, all the tracks are good quality, distance was measured by OS Maps online.
