08:30 2 Boot South West Coast Path – Minehead (20s & 30s Walk)

Event Date: Sat 12 April 2025
Event Time: 08:30

This walk is in the past.

A circular walk starting in Minehead, taking in the beginning of the South West Coast Path! :)
2+ Boot walk - 13.5 miles - 778m ascent and descent
From Minehead we will climb up onto North Hill with beautiful views across the sea to Wales. We will walk along the ridge and then follow the ups and downs of the coast path, zigzagging down into valleys and up onto hill tops! We will then descend into the village of Bossington (where there are toilets and a water tap!), and walk through the beautiful National Trust owned Holnicote estate, passing through the villages of Allerford and Selworthy, including Selworthy church. The return is relatively less hilly and largely on quiet country lanes and footpaths, passing farms. The final section of the walk will be through The Parks, which are filled with beautiful trees, and then the high street, taking us back to the sea front and start point. Optional swim in the sea and pub/cafe stop after the walk.

If you would like to meet at the start point please contact me :)

Please bring plenty of water to drink, food, sun protection, appropriate footwear, and warm/waterproof/windproof clothing. There may be some livestock on route. There may be sections of the path which have a relatively steep drop towards the see on one side. Sections of the path may be slippery especially when wet. You may like to bring walking poles however these are definitely not necessary (unless you like them!). As with walks in the countryside, all walkers should check themselves for ticks after the walk. We will cross and walk on some quiet country lanes, please take care of vehicles and other road users. If you intend to swim, please bring a towel/swimming things! :)

Bring packed lunch.

How do I join the walk?

Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.

On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.

If sharing lifts passengers are expected to contribute towards petrol costs. Please bring coins or be prepared to make a bank transfer. As a guide, 30p/mile shared by everyone in the car.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
