This walk is in the past.
Beautiful Black Mountains walk passing by Table Mountain with fabulous views across to the Brecon Beacons and the Sugar Loaf. With a pub stop in Crickhowell at the end. https://visitcrickhowell.wales/
From Crickhowell the route is uphill (some prolonged steep sections), initially through farmland along the Beacons Way before turning off and ascendingPen Cerrig-calch from the SW. The next section is high-level moorland walking, with a short steep descent from Pen Allt-mawr (the highest point of the day at 719m). There's a gradual descent along the Tal Trwynau ridge followed by a steep climb to a path that contours around the lower slopes of Pen Cerrig-calch before climbing to Table Mountain. We then descend (initial steep section) through farmland back to Crickhowell.
Please come prepared for a full day in the mountains with plenty of water, lunch and snacks, sunscreen / sun hat - plus warm layers, warm hat and gloves and waterproofs.
Don't forget to check for ticks at the end of the walk (insect repellent recommended on exposed skin).
Parking is £4 for the day.
