This walk is in the past.
Thanks to Andy S for submitting this walk last August which I wanted to do - unfortunately was unable to make this so have decided to organise myself.
This is the 5th part of the epic Beacons Way, and this part is a 14.5-mile romp with 610m of ascent. We'll be heading westwards into the wilder, quieter western Beacons from the Storey Arms/Pont ar Daf car park at the foot of Pen y Fan, and taking in parts of the famous Sarn Helen Roman road and Ogof Ffynnon Ddu National Nature Reserve, renowned for its famous cave system and rare limestone pavement habitat! We'll be finishing up the day at Craig-y-Nos country park.
It will be a long day (likely back late evening) but really rewarding! Please note we will be departing the meeting point at 07:15 sharp, as the car park at Storey Arms/Pont ar Daf can get very, very busy indeed very early.
PLEASE NOTE - This walk requires booking. If you wish to attend, please message me and let me know whether or not you will be able to drive and offer lifts.
As this is a linear walk, extra time will be required to organise cars at the start and end points and will involve non drivers waiting some time before the walk can begin. Like with the most recent linear walks that Andy S organised, we will try to send a sufficient number of cars to the finish such that at the end (after a pub visit) everyone can get in cars and either go direct home or home via the start to collect other cars.
Please also let me know if you have any other questions.
Please bring good walking footwear and suitable clothes for the weather - waterproofs, layers for warmth and hat & gloves. Also plenty of food and snacks (more than you think!), water and a sit mat or something to sit on for lunch/breaks etc. Time permitting, may finish in pub for post walk beverage.
Bring packed lunch.
