09:30 1 Boot New Comers Walk from the Avon Gorge to Tyntesfield (Joint Walk)

We will meet at Hotwells by the Pump House pub at 09:30 am. 8, Merchants Road, City Of Bristol BS8 4PZ. . Please try to arrive by bike or public transport- if you are coming by car please plan your parking carefully in advance and check where you can park for more than 4 hours).


From the Harbourside, we will take in the Avon Gorge and the Suspension Bridge before we walk up through Leigh Woods via Abbots Pool, Failand Farm and Ox House Bottom . We will enjoy the views from the Summer House looking out across the Severn Estuary and Steep Holm before descending to visit Tyntesfield House and use the free passes to take time to visit the impressive gothic house and kitchen garden.



From there, people can hurry home or take a leisurely time enjoying the sites and splendors of this magnificient property with this rare opportunity to enter the building for free and enjoy the beauty of the garden with harvest time gourd displays, colossal pumpkins, fanstatic architecture, lemon groves and a pergola not to mention the recently restored rose garden and elegant chapel.



New comers are particularly welcome.

If time allows we will finish off with a drink at the Cottage Inn.


This walk is approximately 7- 9 miles with a good hill up the gorge so be prepared with good boots and clothing for all weathers and food and water to keep you going.

Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.

How do I join the walk?

Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.

On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.
