9.20am 1 Boot: Looping the Lake, Ubley to Blagdon Circular Walk (Brunel Plus)

Event Date: Sun 30 April 2017
Event Time: 9.20am

6.5 miles

A gentle paced 1 boot walk with time for photos and refreshments.  (New members are most welcome)  We follow footpaths through fields, quiet lanes and stoney tracks and admire the views to Blagdon Lake and the surrounding countryside.  A beautiful circular walk with a few small climbs and some uneven ground.  There are a number of stiles and footbridges to cross so sturdy boots are advisable.  It can get muddy and wet on some of the paths too so please come prepared for all weathers.  A chance to see some bird life and spend some time taking in some of the Mendips finest scenery.

Parking for the start of the walk will be in Ubley Parish Hall car park, The Street, Ubley, BS40 6PJ.  I have contacted the Hall committee and they have given us permission to park there all day. There is an event taking place that weekend but they said we should all be able to park.  Please only park in the village if the car park is full.  Thank you.

Meet at 9.20am at the carpark opposite St. Mary Redcliffe

Alternative meet point: 10.15 at Ubley Parish Hall car park.  Please contact walk leader if meeting at alternative meet point.

Bring packed lunch, pub to finish.

Walk leader: Rosie U ( (Phone number removed) )

How do I join the walk?

Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.

On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.

If sharing lifts passengers are expected to contribute towards petrol costs. Please bring coins or be prepared to make a bank transfer. As a guide, 30p/mile shared by everyone in the car.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
