The walk will begin from Craig Y Nos Country Park, heading past Craig Y Nos Castle and straight up the steep ascent until we reach the summit of Cribarth. Here we should be able to enjoy views of the moorlands of Fforest Fawr, all along the Swansea Valley and the hills that guard the edge of Black Mountain. From here we shall descend into Abercrave, stopping for brunch on our way down. We shall then cross a poo-stick bridge opportunity, and make our way along a narrow ravine, with gorgeous river and waterfall views. We shall stop for lunch somewhere around the ravine in hopefully, a nice sunny spot! After lunch we shall have the chance to view the Henrhydd Falls, the highest waterfall in South Wales! After this, we shall make our way across countryside, with amazing views of Cribarth, steadily making our way back to Craig Y Nos Country Park, where we can relax in a nice cafe with a little treat!
Due to walking amongst livestock and through a farmyard with an active farm dog, I do not recommend bringing dogs on this walk.
Please be prepared to get muddy as many parts of the fields can be quite boggy, despite any glorious weather!
Remember to bring plenty of water, lunch and warm, sensible clothing.
The car park costs £2.50 for the whole day.
