10:30 1 Boot Kelston Hill and the River Avon (Joint Walk) This walk now has a waiting list
Event Date: Mon 30 August 2021
Event Time: 10:30
This walk is in the past.
This walk takes in water meadows and farmland near the River Avon as well as a couple of the best views in the Bristol/Bath area. We will climb Kelston Hill for views over both cities and then continue up on to the Cotswolds escarpment. There's about 250m of ascent but we'll take it at a steady 1 boot pace.
There may be some friendly donkeys on the return leg.
Dependent on numbers/queues, there will could be the chance to visit a farm shop for drinks & refreshments. There is also a pub with an outdoor serving area so we can have a drink after the walk. Please bring face masks / hand sanitiser so that we can visit these establishments safely.
There will still be a booking system for this walk. Feel free to organise your own car sharing, but the main Bristol/Bath meet points/central car sharing will still not be used.

If sharing lifts passengers are expected to contribute towards petrol costs. Please bring coins or be prepared to make a bank transfer.
As a guide, 30p/mile shared by everyone in the car.
Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.
On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?
We provide a full recommended kit list here. Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.
