Event Date: Sat 30 July 2016
Event Time: 10:00am
The walk takes in the first part of the beautiful Bath Skyline walk, before taking a detour to have a swim in Warleigh Weir. One steady climb near the beginning.
There will be an opportunity for swimming at Warleigh Weir for an hour on the walk – please bring any swimming costumes, towels etc. Be aware there are no changing facilities. Also please read the details on the sign; the weir has no lifeguard, and there are dangers inherent in wild swimming. Please know that you do so at your own risk.
Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish: Cross Guns, round the corner from Avoncliff station. (Trains go every hour, so if we miss one at least there’s somewhere to have a pint…)
Meet: 10:00am at Bristol Temple Meads to take the 10:22 train to Bath Spa. BUT: You need to get a return ticket to Avoncliff not Bath, as we will be returning to Bristol from there – it’s not a circular walk. If you buy your tickets in groups of three you can take advantage of the third off savings from GWR.
If you want to meet us at Bath station, please let me know on (Phone number removed) . The train will get into Bath around 10.32am, delays permitting…
This is a joint walk led by 20/30s.
Leader: Catherine P (Phone number removed)
How do I join the walk?
Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.
On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.
If sharing lifts passengers are expected to contribute towards petrol costs. Please bring coins or be prepared to make a bank transfer. As a guide, 30p/mile shared by everyone in the car.
How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?
We provide a full recommended kit list here. Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.
Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot. Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
