09:35 2 Boot Pretty valley in Cotswolds + Good views. (Joint Walk)

Event Date: Sat 30 September 2023
Event Time: 09:35

This walk is in the past.

This is a medium length walk with some ups and downs but large parts of it will be on top of the Cotswolds with good views if the weather is clear. It will probably be fairly dry underfoot mostly but some of the parts across the bottoms of the valleys in the grass might be a bit wet and muddy.
We will head up to Nibbly Nob and then head South from there towards Wotton-under-Edge, then East to a beautiful valley, then North up towards Dursley and around a plateaux for some good views before heading back to The Black Horse Inn at the end, near the cemetery. (

).

I plan to walk around this at a fairly decent pace but I'm happy to have plenty of stops and breaks.

The mobile number I've given here is an old second one I have. I'll check it for texts in the evenings before the walk. Text me for my new number if you haven't already got it if you are going to come on this walk. For anything more than this please contact me on my new number.

NOTE: I plan to meet you for the start of the walk at the cemetery in North Nibley and I will not be returning to the Water Tower in Bristol after the walk as I will be staying in the Cotswolds for the evening.
So it will be for those meeting at the water tower to organise their own car sharing and their way to the cemetery in North Nibley, but if you do want to call me beforehand about this I'm happy to try to help a bit if I can. I suggest it will probably take 45+ minutes to drive from the water tower to the cemetery.

I am planning for us to actually start walking at 10:45, which means we should be back at the pub at the end in the Cotswolds by 4:30 p.m.

Please come suitably equipped and prepared. Do give me a call if you have any questions.

Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.

How do I join the walk?

Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.

On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.

If sharing lifts passengers are expected to contribute towards petrol costs. Please bring coins or be prepared to make a bank transfer. As a guide, 30p/mile shared by everyone in the car.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
