09:30 1 Boot Walk Along the River Frome, Bristol to Frampton Cotterell (Joint Walk) This walk is now full

Event Date: Sun 24 October 2021
Event Time: 09:30

This walk is in the past.

Please do text me to let me know you are going to come.

Walk along-side the River Frome from Bristol to The Rising Sun Pub in Frampton Cotterell, with bus back to start or home.
-Walk is along the Frome Valley passing Snuff Mills, Frenchay Bridge and Huckford Quarry and then on to the finishing point of The Rising Sun Pub in Frampton Cotterell.
Much of walk is through trees / woods along the bottom of the river valley. There are a few points that are narrow and path looks as though it could be muddy for some lengths if it has been wet.

There is also a optional short small tunnel near start

You can travel to and from this walk by bus.

I plan for us to meet at 9:30 and start walking at 9:45am.

Note this is a linear walk that does not finish where it starts.
However, there is a bus service, the Y4, that leaves hourly on Sundays at 21mins past the hour all afternoon from 'Frampton Cotterell, St Peter's Church', which is just outside The Globe pub, -Bus route goes back to roughly the start of the walk and on to Bristol Bus Station.

Re (optional) Sunday lunch at the end: If you tell me you are going to join me for the pub Sunday lunch in advance, ideally by the Sunday before or at least a few days before, I will book us a table.

NOTE: The telephone number I have put in this posting is just a second number I have, just to use for this kind of internet thing, and I may not be using it on the day or for extensive communication. Text this number to tell me you are going to come on the walk and / or to the lunch and I will reply from my main mobile to confirm you have a place and give you my main number.

Pub to finish.

How do I join the walk?

Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.

On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.

If sharing lifts passengers are expected to contribute towards petrol costs. Please bring coins or be prepared to make a bank transfer. As a guide, 30p/mile shared by everyone in the car.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
