This walk is in the past.
This is a challenging but rewarding walk that includes some classic features of the Wye Valley. From Monmouth we will follow the River Wye to Symonds Yat, crossing the river along the way at Biblins Bridge (a suspended foot bridge over the Wye). The first section of the walk is fairly flat with the exception of a climb at the end to get up to Symonds Yat Viewpoint where we will hopefully (weather permitting) be greeted with fantastic views over the Wye Valley.
The second section of the walk is more challenging, with a few steep ascents and descents, as we leave the river behind and make our way back to Monmouth through the forest. As we near Monmouth, we will leave the forest for a final ascent to Kymin Round House where there is another viewpoint and hopefully more panoramic views. We will then pick up the Offa's Dyke Path for the final descent back down into Monmouth for a well-earned drink in a local pub.
Please come prepared with plenty of food and water as well as clothing suitable for the weather conditions. Walking boots are recommended.
Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.
