This walk is in the past.

Meet at the Water Tower at 8.45 sharp for lift sharing although I will probably go direct to start.

16 mile walk starting outside The Town Hall, Cross St, Abergavenny NP7 5HD at 10am.

Please find your own parking nearby.

We then leave town on footpaths and head up to summit of Blorenge for hopefully fine views, then head down to towards Govilon, onward to Gilwern and then up are second summit of Sugar Loaf for more views, before returning downhill to the start for a drink in a local pub.

This is a long walk which will be walked at a reasonable pace so come prepared.

Bring a pack lunch and plenty of fluids and suitable clothes/suncream? for the conditions on the day.

This walk is also on the AOAC program as I lead walks for both.

How do I join the walk?

Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.

On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.
