This walk is in the past.
Really sorry, this walk has been cancelled due to a weather warning for heavy rain most of the day. Will hopes to reschdule at a date to be confirmed.
This is a 2-boot hike through the stunning waterfall country of the West Brecon Beacons. Meet at the Down’s Water tower at 08.15 to organise car shares, before driving 1.5 hours into Bannau Brycheiniog national park. This hike includes the 'four waterfalls walk' alongside many others.
The walk is 10.6 miles/17 km with 551m ascent. It starts with a gentle stroll through leafy woodland along the river before we start meeting a series of incredible waterfalls. Plenty of opportunity for photography, as well as swimming for those who want to. We also get to walk behind one of the waterfalls as part of the route. The walk itself will take approximately 5-6 hours, but with lots of stops I estimate 7-8 hours plus driving time.
Please bring appropriate clothing for all conditions, including sunscreen, waterproofs, walking boots and plenty of food and water, plus swimming stuff if you want to. Optional pub to finish and an ice-cream shop also hopefully open during the walk (cash only). There are no toilets on the walk, although there is a shop near the start with toilets that can be used by customers. Note, Dinas Rock car park closes at 5pm and we could be back after this. However, I have never had any issues staying later. If you are concerned, I suggest parking on Dinas Road instead (in the non-reserved areas).
Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.
