This session is open to all

Walks and events ideas collection and generation, planning, sharing knowledge and organising walks and events onto our club programme.

- Focusing on the next ¼ year and ½ year, but ideas for further ahead also very welcome.

- Opportunity to easily get a placeholder for any walk or event you want to lead onto our club programme.

- General walks and events related discussion, knowledge sharing,

It will be particularly good if you have a think and maybe do some research etc., and have a look at your calendars before coming to this session.

(But if not, don’t worry, it will still be helpful and great to have you along.)

‘Bring your diary’ = know when you are not planning to be free etc.

We, the leaders of this event, will bring a paper calendar with the BWG walks and events we have planned so far entered onto it.  We will also bring some paper maps of our surrounding area.  We may well have paper maps of particular areas further away that we can bring if you ask us for them at least a couple of days before this evening.

(The past-walks page of our club web site is a good source of ideas for future walks.  (Repeating walks is fine.)

How do I join the walk?

Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.

On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.

If sharing lifts passengers are expected to contribute towards petrol costs. Please bring coins or be prepared to make a bank transfer. As a guide, 30p/mile shared by everyone in the car.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
