18:00 1 Boot Picnic and Social (Optional Swim) (Joint Evening Walk)

Event Date: Wed 12 August 2026
Event Time: 18:00

This walk is in the past.

Meet at the deep end of Marine Lake in Clevedon at 18.00 or if this is too early then come along later as we will be around this area all evening. Bring a picnic and something to sit on.

I'll bring a rounders bat and ball if people fancy a game. Probably bring some other games too, emphasis of the evening is more just a chilled evening socialising, eating, drinking and having fun.

Bring your swimming stuff if you fancy a dip or just come to socialise. Please note, swimming is done as an individual activity, and is not part of the social, since it is not covered by Brunel insurance.

Probably go for a little walk along the coast to see the sunset but this will only be a mile or so at a relaxed pace.

Will be a opportunity to take in the eclipse between 18.15 and 19.20.

Parking it available for free after 18.00 at Marine Lake Salthouse Rd, Clevedon BS21 7TR or if this is full you should be able to find somewhere to park on the streets around St Andrew's Church Old Church Rd, Clevedon BS21 7UE

Bear in mind that if you call me after 18.00 I might be swimming but I will get back to you when available, or just look out for other members who might not be in the water.

How do I join the walk?

Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.

On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.

If sharing lifts passengers are expected to contribute towards petrol costs. Please bring coins or be prepared to make a bank transfer. As a guide, 30p/mile shared by everyone in the car.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
