This walk is in the past.
A beautiful 18km circular walk starting at Cheddar Reservoir. We will walk alongside the Cheddar Yeo river for the first hour or so, before ascending to Crooks Peak. On a day of good weather, the views over the Mendips, Severn Estuary and Somerset are stunning. We'll continue enjoying the views along the West Mendip Way, while heading up to Shute Shelve Hill, before dropping down through King's Wood. Following this we will head up Fry's Hill, past the limestone quarry, and then back down through the woods to Axbridge and Cheddar Reservoir. Approximately 400m total climb.
For those interested in a post-walk drink, we'll head to a pub in Axbridge.
Areas may well still be very muddy and slippery by May, especially by the river and on the slopes - walking boots strongly advised.
Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.
