This walk is in the past.
There's no need to book on to this walk.
We will start in the village of Winscombe and initially walk along the Strawberry Line. (This is a former railway line now maintained as a splendid traffic-free cycling and walking route by a certain charity, but the walk leader may be a little biased on this.) The route then takes us up on to Wavering Down and up to the top of Crook Peak. In fine weather, there are great views over the Somerset Levels. Our return to Winscombe takes us through woodland, orchards and fields.
It may be muddy, so please come prepared. There is also a bit of a climb up on to Wavering Down & Crook Peak.
We will meet in the centre of Winscombe where the Strawberry Line crosses Woodborough Road. BS25 1AQ is the best postcode to use.
For anyone wanting to use public transport to get to the walk start point, the Falcon Flyer from Bristol bus station stops on the A38 at Sidcot School from where it's a short walk into Winscombe village centre.
Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.
