10:21 2 Boot Bus walk: Yate to Thornbury along Jubilee way linear walk ๐ŸšŒ๐Ÿšถ๐ŸšŒ (Joint Walk)

Event Date: Sun 8 October 2023
Event Time: 10:21

This walk is in the past.

This is a linear bus walk so we will take the Y2 bus departing 10:21 from broadmead bus stop (opposite Evans Cycles) to The White Lion stop in Yate (arriving 10:56) and walk along the Jubilee way to Thornbury. Then there's an optional visit to the pub and you can get the T1 bus back to Bristol (bus is hourly). If you like you can meet us in Yate at the bus stop, text me if you're meeting us there in case of delays.

Bus fare is £2 each way. You can pay by card on the bus. Unless it's your birthday month then it's free https://travelwest.info/tickets-travelcards/free-bus-travel-on-your-birthday-month/

The route is fairly flat along fields, tracks and farmland. I didn't see any cattle on the prewalk though can't guarantee it will be cattle free. Dogs allowed but must be kept on leads the entire time. Some parts of the route are muddy and overgrown so walking boots and walking trousers (or nettle proof legs) are recommended.

Note: this is a linear walk so if you're driving there you will have to get yourself back to Yate somehow.

How do I join the walk?

Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. Youโ€™re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.

On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. Itโ€™s OK if you donโ€™t drive โ€“ we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.ย

If sharing lifts passengers are expected to contribute towards petrol costs. Please bring coins or be prepared to make a bank transfer. As a guide, 30p/mile shared by everyone in the car.ย

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here. ย Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots โ€“ avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot. ย Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
