10:15 a.m. 1 Boot: Clevedon to Portishead Coastal Path (20s-30s)

Following the coastal path between Clevedon and Portishead, there are many points of interest including Clevedon Pier, numerous bays, Black Nore Lighthouse and, weather permitting, some good views of the Bristol Channel, Mouth of the Severn, Wales and the Severn Bridge. Much of the walk will be on easy terrain with some gentle ups and downs. Please don’t forget to bring hat, gloves and usual clothes to keep you warm as it may be cold and windy along the path.

Walk will start no later than 11:15am from Portishead Lake Grounds Car Park (Free Parking, BS20 7HX for Sat Navs/Grid Ref ST461769) where we will have a short walk to catch an 11:45 am bus to Clevedon – Bus Journey approx 30 mins, (£2.50). Once there, we will have a chance to stop and explore the Pier (£1.80 per person) before continuing the walk back to the car park along the Coastal Path. Optional stop at Pub very close to the end of walk.

How do I join the walk?

Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.

On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there. 

If sharing lifts passengers are expected to contribute towards petrol costs. Please bring coins or be prepared to make a bank transfer. As a guide, 30p/mile shared by everyone in the car. 

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.
