This walk is in the past.
A fairly gentle walk taking in open fields, downland and the beach at Sand Bay; on a clear day, there will be excellent views. We will make our way out of Kewstoke through open fields, across the levels and through a heritage orchard (first opportunity to see goats!). This section of the walk is likely to be wet and muddy underfoot so waterproof boots or waterproof socks are recommended.
We will stop off at the remains of Woodspring Priory before joining the coast path (second opportunity to see goats!), following the downland of Middle Hope all the way to Sand Point, a natural pier into the Bristol Channel. We will then head off Sand Point (via the trig point) and make our way back to the cars along the beach at Sand Bay. The section along Middle Hope is more undulating but there is nothing too prolonged or steep; in places, the terrain is rocky and uneven.
Please come prepared with warm layers (it can get breezy along the coastal section), hat/gloves, waterproofs, something to sit on when we stop, food and water. Please car share if possible but please note the walk leader will not be at the Water Tower to organise car shares.
