This walk is in the past.
This walk explores the Somerset Levels to the south of Cheddar. It is almost entirely flat with the exception of one relatively small hill. It is likely there will be boggy and wet sections underfoot given the time of year and the fact we are on the Levels so waterproof boots are advised and gaiters recommended if you have them. There could be cattle in some fields.
We will be walking through fields and down tracks and country lanes, often beside rhynes and rivers. The ascent up Nyland Hill is steep but short and, on a clear day, the reward is fantastic views toward the Mendip Hills, Cheddar Reservoir and out over the Somerset Levels toward Glastonbury Tor.
Aside from waterproof footwear, please also come prepared with plenty of food and water, waterproofs and warm layers.
Bring packed lunch. Cafe to finish.
