08:40 2 Boot: Jurassic Kilve Coast and the Quantocks 2.5 Boot (Joint Walk)

Event Date: Sun 4 August 2019
Event Time: 08:40

This walk is in the past.

We start at the car park at Kilve and follow the spectacular Jurassic coast for a short distance before heading inland and up onto the Quantocks Ridge at Beacon Hill, hopefully enjoying great views from the trig point.

We then follow the main ridge for a short distance before traversing some smaller ridges, before heading down into Holford. From here we follow footpaths and quiet roads back to the sea for a longer walk along the Jurassic Coast back to the car park.

At the end of the walk if required we can drive a short distance to a local pub for some post walk refreshments

This walk involves a few climbs as we go from the coast up to one of the trig points on the Quantocks ridge. So I would call this a 2.5 boot walk.

Mapping software is showing approximately 2200ft of ascent throughout the walk.

It costs approximately £3 to park at Kilve, so please make sure you have some change.

I will be meeting people at the start point, so please can people sort out lift shares at St Mary Redcliffe, if anyone is willing to take charge of this please contact Steph via the website. However, I’m more than happy to give people a lift if they can make it to Clevedon. Or I don’t mind jumping in someone’s car if they don’t mind stopping at Clevedon on route.

Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.

How do I join the walk?

Unless stated on the walk page, there is no need to sign up to join a walk. You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.

On many walks you can just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk. It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts. Some walks you will need to make your way to walk start or you can post on our facebook group to ask if you can share a lift there.

If sharing lifts passengers are expected to contribute towards petrol costs. Please bring coins or be prepared to make a bank transfer. As a guide, 30p/mile shared by everyone in the car.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
