We're back at it! This is the 5th part of the epic Beacons Way, and this part is a 14.5-mile romp with 610m of ascent - a bit gentler than the last section, but a great day in the hills nonetheless!
We'll be heading westwards into the wilder, quieter western beacons from the Storey Arms/Pont ar Daf car park at the foot of Pen y Fan, and taking in parts of the famous Sarn Helen roman road and Ogof Ffynnon Ddu National Nature Reserve, renewed for its famous cave system and rare limestone pavement habitat! We'll be finishing up the day at Craig-y-Nos country park.
It will be a long day but really rewarding! Decent footwear, waterproofs, plenty of food and snacks (more than you think!), and plenty of water will be needed. Please note we will be departing the meeting point at 08:00 sharp, as the car park at Storey Arms/Pont ar Daf can get very, very busy indeed very early.
As this is a linear walk, car sharing and driver organisation will be sorted on the day!
