From the CP, a short descent is followed by a steady climb, firstly through woodlands and then across Black Down to reach the Trig Point on Beacon Batch, the highest point on the Mendips with views of the Chew Valley and Bristol Channel. The route then descends to Burrington before climbing over Dolebury Warren and returning to start and a drink in the Swan Inn. This is a short but hilly route, approx. 400m of ascent/descent, with a couple of steep descents and can be very muddy in places. Suitable footwear is essential. Be prepared to organise own car sharing if meeting at St Mary Redcliffe.
Bring packed lunch. Pub to finish.
