5:30pm 1 Boot: Balloon Fiesta Walk & Social (Joint)

Event Date: Sat 11 August 2018
Event Time: 5:30pm

We will meet in the city centre near the M Shed and walk along the harbour and then up through Leigh Woods to reach Ashton Court.  Once in Ashton Court, we will find ourselves a good spot to have a picnic tea and wait until it gets dark when we can watch the Balloon Fiesta nightglow.  The nightglow usually starts at 21:15-21:30 and finishes with fireworks just after 22:00.

Please bring any food or drink that you would like for the picnic.  A picnic blanket or other lightweight seating would be advisable too.  There are also food and drink stalls available at the Balloon Fiesta.

Please remember to bring layers to put on once the sun has gone down.

In the event of poor weather, the Balloon Fiesta organisers may cancel the nightglow in which case, we would cancel this walk/social.  Please check Facebook/the website for any last minute changes.

Walk distance is 3-4 miles to Ashton Court.  The walk leader will return to the city centre on foot after the event but you are free to make your own way home from Ashton Court as appropriate.

Meet: 5:30pm outside the front of the M Shed (harbourside entrance).

Walk leader: Kirstie G, 07967 452060

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
