Event Date: Sat 29 July 2017

In this walk we will walk out of Abergavenny following the bends of the river, before heading over a hill to ascend the Sugar Loaf and then circle back down the hillside to town.

Meet Temple Meads at 9:10 if you want to take advantage of discounted group save tickets.

We will be catching the 9:21 train, changing at Newport to arrive Abergavenny at 10:30.

If you want to go direct, you should find parking in the streets around the train station, although please note any delays in the trains could mean we get a slightly later connecting train from Newport.

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
