9:00 am 2 Boot: Will’s Neck & Blacks Hill (20s-30s)

To the Quantocks we go – more
specifically Dead Woman’s Ditch (a handy info board is provided at
the car park to satisfy the curious). From the car park we will head
into the forest, zig zagging our way up, down and ultimately through
the woods to the other side and out onto Aisholt Common. From here we
will head up Will’s Neck and bag the trig point marking the highest
point in the Quantocks.

We will then continue on down an old drove road before breaking out
onto moorland, with a further ascent up Black Hill to bag the second
trig point of the day which marks the third highest point in the
Quantocks. A track through the heath and moorland will take us back to
the car park.

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.
