9.45am 2 Boot: The Ewelme Valley and Uley Bury Hillfort (Joint Walk)

Event Date: Sun 6 August 2017
Event Time: 9.45am

Distance 10 miles – Roughly 500m vertical climb

This relatively short but hilly 2 boot starts in Dursley and takes in the woods that fold around the local hillsides. We will stay on lower paths where possible before heading out of the woods across the fields towards Uley, where we will then head north up a big climb to Nympsfield village. We will then head south to Uley Bury for a walk around the ramparts before heading back downhill along the valley paths towards Dursley. Lots of short ups and downs as well as 3 hills. Possible views from Uley Bury depending on the weather.

Please bring a packed lunch.

There might be a pub at the end.

Meet 9.45am at the carpark opposite St Mary Redcliffe Church.

Alternative carpark Lister Street – on street parking in new housing development. Park anywhere and then meet group at the roundabout at the top. Hoping that they won’t have painted double yellow lines here. Or phone / text Matt when you arrive. See Google streetview (& map).

If there is a problem finding a place to park on Lister Street the alternative alternative car park is another street called Yellow Hundred Close round the corner –  Google streetview (& map) here.

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
