9.00 1 Boot: Thornbury Geocaching Walk (The Land of the Little Bridge) (Joint Walk)

Event Date: Sun 8 October 2017
Event Time: 9.00

7.5 miles

The aim of this walk is to introduce you to the game of geocaching. We will start in Thornbury and first head towards Oldbury, from there we will head to Rockhampton and then make our way back to Thornbury. The route is fairly flat but often muddy, garden gloves are also recommended.
Disclaimer: This is a geocaching walk so therefore there will be a lot of stopping and starting and hunting for geocaches at around 300m to 600m intervals.
If you would like to know more about the geocaching game in advance see here: https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=1

Bring a packed lunch. Pub to finish.

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
