8pm 20’s and 30’s Pub Night: The Hole in the Wall

Event Date: Fri 25 May 2018
Event Time: 8pm

Join us on the last Friday of every month for our monthly pub night.  Venues vary and this May we will be at The Hole in the Wall, just off Queen’s Square,   If you are fairly new to Brunel walking group or even just contemplating going on a walk, you are welcome to join us – this is a good opportunity to ask questions and meet members of the group.  Look out for a pink/orange OS map on the table as a clue to where we are!

From their website:  “Full of history and bursting with character, this stylish pub, bar and restaurant was named after a spy hole that enabled 18th century sailors and smugglers to keep watch for customs men and press gangs. As a result, The Hole in the Wall was prime recruitment territory for the Navy, and men would wake up after an inebriated night to find themselves at sea.”  Hopefully you’ll be safe!

Host: Vanessa (07515 699583)

Meeting point: 2 The Grove, Queens Square, Bristol, BS1 4QZ.

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
