8:30pm 1 Boot: New Years Night – Pen y Fan With a Full Moon! (Joint Walk)

Ascent of Pen y Fan to see in 2018 at the summit. Its a full moon on New Year’s night, moon rises 3pm, sets 7am, so if cloud-free, we should have good views in the moonlight and the stars. We will ascend the easy route from the A470 on a well made path; ascent of 320m to the summit at 886m, the highest point in the Brecon Beacons. We will descend the same way having seen in the New Year.

Please bring:
Very warm clothes
Hat and gloves
Walking boots
Food & drink
Mulled wine, sparklers, glow sticks

Bring a packed lunch.

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.
