After making our way through Crickhowell we will climb up to Pen Cerrig-Calch via Table Mountain (Crug Hywel) where we can enjoy the views back to Crickhowell and spot the remains of an Iron Age hillfort. We will then follow the ridge to the top of Pen Allt-Mawr before heading back down via Pen Gloch-y-Pibwr before joining the Beacons Way which will take us back to Crickhowell. Please pack warm, windproof and waterproof layers and prepare for all weathers as the weather can quickly change. Please also bring a torch though we should be back before it gets dark.

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
