8:15am 3 Boot: Usk Reservoir and the Bannau Sir Gaer Ridge (Joint Walk)

Event Date: Sun 20 August 2017
Event Time: 8:15am

15 miles

Starting at Glasfynydd Forest carpark. We first walk down through the forest to the Usk reservoir and across the dam. We then climb to the trig point on Mynydd Myddfai. Then we start heading south towards the ridge and start to climb from Llyn y Fan Fach lake. We then follow the ridge around to Fan Foel where we drop off and head back via the forest.

This walk has 1000m of climbing, but nothing particularly steep and is mostly following paths and tracks.

Bring a packed lunch. Pub to finish.

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
