8:00 am 3 Boot: Northern Dartmoor climbs (Joint)

Starting at Meldon
Reservoir we first climb the longest face of Yes Tor. Then head to
West Mill Tor before looping around Oke Tor and following the military
tracks back to Dinger Tor. We then head down into whats known locally
as Killer valley and tackling the toughest climb on Dartmoor up to
Kitty Tor. The walk then visits Green Tor and Great Links Tor before
finishing with Sourton Tors.

There is 900m of climbing and although the climbs are tough for
Dartmoor they are no worse than any of the climbs in the Brecons.

However there are two river crossings which required fording in ankle
deep water during the prewalk and several boggy sections so waterproof
boots are a must.

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.
