7pm Evening Walk: Thatcher’s Orchards & Sandford Hill (Brunel Plus)

Event Date: Wed 16 May 2018
Event Time: 7pm

5 miles

We meet at the Railway Inn which is a locally renowned Thatcher’s Cider pub. Suggest park at rear of car park. They serve very nice, but not cheap food from 6pm if you wish to partake. Please note the organisers will not be eating there.
The walk starts along the Strawberry Line to view Thatchers apple trees which are in bloom (as of 7th May but may have gone over by the 16th!). We then do a loop of Sandford Hill amongst wild garlic and bluebells and with views over the attractive surrounding countryside and the Mendips.
We will finish with a drink at the Railway Inn.

Pub to finish.

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
