2pm 1 Boot: Saturday afternoon amble from Axbridge around Cheddar reservoir (Joint Walk)

Event Date: Sat 19 May 2018
Event Time: 2pm

5 miles

The walk begins by crossing meadows, partially encircles Cheddar Reservoir, continues along enclosed tracks and finishes with a stroll beside two of the waterways of the Somerset levels. It is a flat walk near the base of the steep Mendip escarpment and provides fine views both of the hills themselves and across the flat, watery expanses of the levels. Some parts are likely to be boggy and waterlogged after wet weather and a couple of paths overgrown.

Pub to finish.

Walk Leader: Ruth H (07814189252)

Meet: 2pm at St. Mary Redcliffe

Alternatively meet at 14:30 at Meadow Street car park, Axbridge (can get busy so car share if posdible)
Please contact the walk leader if you will be meeting them there.

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel is a thriving group with more than 400 members. All of our walk leaders and committee members are volunteers, dedicated to sharing our fantastic countryside with others.  Read more on our FAQs page

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.

Walks are graded as either 1 boot, 2 boot or 3 boot.  Read more about choosing the right walk for your fitness level here,
