12.00 1 Boot: A Summer’s Afternoon in the Mendips (Brunel Plus)

Our start point is on the ancient village green of Priddy. A short gentle climb out of the village through fields soon rewards us with one of the finest viewpoints in this area – the Somerset Levels. We pass by a medieval barn and away from the viewpoint along a long sheep drove. As we pass through fields we get great views of the Ancient Bronze Age burial mounds known as the Nine Barrows. After passing through more pretty country lanes and fields we complete our circular walk back at Priddy where the village pub awaits. (Optional)

About Brunel Walking Group

Thanks for visiting us! Brunel Walking Group is for young(ish) people in the Bristol and Bath area who love the countryside and like to get outside on a weekend.

What is Brunel Walking Group?

How do I join the walk?

There is no need to sign up to join a walk, just turn up at the meeting point where we will share lifts to the start of the walk.  You’re very welcome to try out 1 or 2 walks before you join, but we do insist that after that you join the Brunel Walking Group.  It’s OK if you don’t drive – we normally have enough drivers who are able to give lifts, but drivers often appreciate it when a voluntary contribution is made by passengers towards their costs.

How do I know what to bring? And am I fit enough?

We provide a full recommended kit list here.  Please do bring water, a rainproof jacket, walking trousers (or similar) and walking shoes/boots – avoid jeans and trainers.
